Tasting the Soul of the Region: Our Apple Pie Liqueur Story
There’s a little farmgate stall just outside Batlow that has been stopping travellers in their tracks for decades. No fuss, no fanfare—just bags of crisp apples, jars of golden local honey, hand-picked flowers, and whatever else the season decides to offer. It belongs to Greg Mouat and his family, who have been quietly growing some of the best apples in the country on the cool slopes of Batlow for generations.
It was there, after a roadside stop for a bag of blushing Galas and a quick chat with Greg, that the idea for our luscious Apple Pie Liqueur was born.
Batlow is apple country—iconic, generous, and steeped in stories. The cool-climate air rolls in soft and misty most mornings, settling into the dark red basalt soil that gives each apple its snap, sweetness, and depth of flavour. As the season rolls on, each variety tells its own tale—from early-season honeycrisp or Jonothan crunch to late-harvest richness.
We knew we wanted to capture that juicy, orchard-fresh bite—but also the warmth, comfort, and memory of what apples become when they meet a mountain kitchen.
So we started with the freshest fruit, handpicked from Greg’s orchard at its peak. Then came the alchemy: a nostalgic blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a secret buttery infusion that somehow makes this liqueur taste like the scent of a pie just pulled from the oven. It’s dessert in a glass—rich, round, and soul-warming.
Only pure, local ingredients make it into the bottle. No shortcuts. No artificial anything. Just apples, spice, and a little mountain magic.
One sip, and you’re back there—on a cool autumn afternoon, the fire crackling, mist curling outside the windows, and a slice of warm apple pie melting into your plate.
This is more than a drink.
It’s a memory, bottled.
